Called Forth by Sr. Fidelis Rubbo

Before going to Haiti, I thought I knew the poor. But I didn't-not really. I was Pastoral Coordinator in Rocky Mountain, Virginia from 1990-1999. There and elsewhere I had tried to do well by the poor who came to my door. I championed their causes and worked ecumenically with other ministers toward those ends, but I realize now I did not have a deep feel for them personally. I did not get to know or understand them very well. I have to admit: they were still other to me. - Sr. Fidelis Rubbo
